Children and Youth Ministry
Here at St. Christophers …
We believe in life long Christian Formation. We believe our faith is “formed”, over time, thru regular participation in a variety of experiences in the Church including worship, music and drama programs, educational programs for children and youth, service
opportunities for youth, special intergenerational events, educational programs for adults and leadership training and more.
In order to support the formation of our children, we currently offer the following:
- An innovative, rotation style church school model for Sunday mornings that engages young people with a variety of learning styles. Our curriculum, Workshop Cycles, was designed with Gardner´s Theory of Multiple Intelligences in mind.
- Children are invited to serve in Children´s Choir or as an Acolyte during worship.
- An annual Epiphany Pageant creates the opportunity for young people to take center stage and play a role in telling the story of the events of Advent, Christmas and Epiphany.
- Occasional special events for children & their parents such as Advent Wreath Making Workshop or Palm Saturday offer additional opportunities for learning and fellowship.
- Summer Vacation Bible School …
We’ve explored Aslan is on the Move and Wizards & Wonders: A Hero’s Journey with Harry Potter in recent years. This past summer we traveled back in time to the Medieval age with Pilgrimage: Seeking the Kingdom of God!

More About Workshop Cycles …
Workshop Cycles is an innovative way to experience Sunday School that takes seriously the spiritual development of children while providing exciting opportunities to engage children in new levels of learning and retention. Children work on the same story or concept for several weeks, using different learning approaches in each workshop room they visit.
We are fortunate to have so many willing, enthusiastic and friendly adults serving in Workshop Cycles. Our Shepherds serve every other cycle traveling with the class groups to each workshop in the cycle. Workshop Leaders actually lead the workshops and serve just one cycle at a time.
This year we plan to explore the following themes or stories in Workshop Cycles:
- All About the Bible
- The Judges of Israel; Deborah, Gideon & Samson
- Stations of the Creche (Advent)
- The Samaritan Woman at the Well
- This is My Body (Lent)
- Doubting Thomas
- Pentecost
Workshops are offered at the 10am education hour most Sundays during the school year. Information as to which workshop is being offered to which class group on any given Sunday is provided in worship bulletins and Workshop Cycle displays.
